Presentation of Muñana

The municipality of Muñana (511 inhabitants in 2010; 3,361 ha) is located in the center of Ávila Province, 30 km of Ávila.

Symbols of Muñana

The flag and arms of Muñana are prescribed by a Decree adopted on 20 January 1998 by the Provincial Executive and published on 3 March 1998 in the official gazette of Castile and León, No. 42 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Flag: Quadrangular flag with proportions 1:1, crimson. In the middle of the flag is placed the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Shield in Spanish shape. Per fess, 1. Gules a tower or masoned sable port and windows azure, 2. Azure a verraco argent on a terrace vert. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.

A verraco, aka verraco de piedras (lit., "stone boar") is a granite sculpture representing a pig, a boar, a wild boar or a bull, made by the Vettones, a Celtic cattle-herder people (4th-3rd centuries BC).
